Park Scholarships Names Class of 2024 Finalists
The Park Scholarships Selection Committee, comprising approximately 251 NC State alumni and friends, conducted interviews with nearly 450 Semifinalists in early January. The Semifinalists were selected from 2,136 applicants. Of these, 112 candidates have been selected as Finalists for the Class of 2024.
Finalists will visit the NC State campus on February 21-22 to participate in Final Selection Activities at the James B. Hunt Jr. Library. These activities include individual interviews, group discussion tasks, and panels with faculty and Park Scholars. Finalists and their guests also attend a reception and dinner with NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson and other university officials.
This year’s Finalists represent 20 U.S. states and 33 North Carolina counties. Among them are student government presidents, varsity athletes, Eagle Scouts, Taekwondo and CrossFit world championship competitors, researchers and editors, tutors and mentors, entrepreneurs and inventors, and accomplished musicians and artists. Finalists include founders of organizations confronting issues from substance abuse to domestic violence, initiators of literacy programs and science fairs, and environmentalists leading community recycling and sustainability programs. Collectively, they have performed thousands of hours of service in their communities, benefiting diverse organizations and causes.
