The following Park Scholars and alumni received media coverage in recent weeks:

Sindhoor Ambati ’20 performed in Carnegie Hall as a member of its Young Adult Honors Chorus in early February. Ambati, a biomedical engineering and English double major from Cary, N.C., also had the honor of introducing Chancellor Woodson during the Park Scholarships Class of 2021 Finalist Dinner in NC State’s Talley Student Union last month.

Ruben Carbonell, Park Faculty Mentor to Kobi Felton ‘18, was named a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). This honor recognizes outstanding contributions to innovation in areas such as patents and licensing, innovative discovery and technology, significant impact on society, and support and enhancement of innovation.

Jere Confrey, a former Park Faculty Mentor, is NC State’s first faculty member to be named a Fellow by the the American Educational Research Association. This is the organization’s highest honor recognizing research contributions to education.

Madeline Finnegan ‘18 is one of NC State’s three Finalists for the 2017 Truman Scholarship. Finnegan, an economics major from Apex, N.C., is president of the UNC Association of Student Governments and a mentor and coordinator for an after-school science program for Raleigh-area youth.

Look for Brian Gaudio ‘13 in Austin, Texas later this month—his startup company, Module, was selected as a finalist in the “Social and Culture” category for the ninth annual Accelerator competition at the South by Southwest® (SXSW) Conference and Festivals. Module, which develops an affordable, adaptable housing solution, was selected to present out of 50 finalists in ten different categories.

John Griggs, Park Faculty Scholar for the Class of 2013, was featured on NC State’s Online and Distance Education website. A teaching associate professor in the Department of Mathematics, Griggs also coordinates game-day statistics for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Pranav Kemburu ‘19, an electrical engineering and economics double major from Cary, N.C., promoted the Krispy Kreme Challenge on the local television news in mid-January. He and Peyton Hassinger ‘07, one of the event’s founders, were quoted in The News & Observer’s recent article about the charity race.

Neal Robbins ‘01, publisher of the North State Journal and former legislative director for North Carolina’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources, recently joined the law firm of Nexsen Pruet as special counsel to the Economic Development Group.

Jess (Badger) Rotenberg ‘07, a self-employed photographer who formerly worked as a forensic biologist with the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation, was selected for the cast of Listen To Your Mother. The production will be held on Friday, May 5 in Meredith College’s Jones Auditorium.

Aoife Sinclair ’20 had an inspirational op-ed recognizing National Eating Disorder Awareness Week published in The Technician. Sinclair is an environmental sciences major from Conover, N.C.
