Groundbreaking held for Park Alumni Center

The groundbreaking for NC State’s new alumni center was held Saturday, Feb. 5.

The ceremony took place on the corner of Main Campus Drive and Alumni Drive on NC State’s Centennial Campus, future site of the planned 56,000-square-foot office and meeting facility.

The center is made possible by a personal gift from Dorothy Dent Park of Ithaca, NY. In recognition, the new alumni center will be named for Dorothy and Roy Park.

The Dorothy and Roy Park Alumni Center will house Alumni Association staff as well as provide space for reunions, postgame receptions, parties and seminars. New conference rooms and reception areas will host chancellor events and Board of Trustees functions. In addition, the Caldwell Fellows Program will move to the new facility. The Park Scholarships will also maintain an office there.

Dorothy Park is a native of Raleigh, where she attended Peace College and graduated from Meredith College. She is the widow of Roy H. Park, and chair of the Park Foundation, founded by the bequest of her late husband. The Park Foundation has funded hundreds of full scholarships at several universities, including the Park Scholarships at NC State, established in 1996.
