Garik Sadovy ‘12 took the stage at Carnegie Hall this summer and sang bass as a guest performer with the choir Resounding Harmony. His performance was part of an event entitled Sing for the Cure – a joint project involving Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Turtle Creek Chorale.

Each performance is designed to take the audience through the range of emotions experienced by those affected by breast cancer. “The acoustic environment at Carnegie is nothing short of epic, and when you have a piece that brings out such passion in the performers, the meaning and the vibrance of the music changes lives,” says Sadovy.

Sadovy was in the audience when his father performed in the Sing for the Cure world premiere in 2000. Since that evening, the Sadovy family has used their voices in the fight against cancer. Reflecting on the disease which has affected several of his loved ones, Sadovy remarked, “I am cognizant that I may face some of the same struggles in my life, and I’m doing what I can to bring the day closer when no one has to concern themselves with cancer.”

Sing for the Cure has been performed at various venues in the United States, Canada, and Europe over the last decade. Concert proceeds benefit the world’s largest breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
